Firefly Eco Cabin Project - support by July 24!
You can support this exciting building project happening at the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts!
The project is called The Firefly Eco Cabin Project. The idea behind the project is to build an Eco Cabin at the centre, which will serve as a learning space for sustainability. The term “Eco Cabin” refers to a cabin made from environmentally responsible building materials that is designed to be resource-efficient.
You can support the project's video and Kickstarter campaign by CLICKING HERE! The campaign runs until July 24!
The Firefly Eco Cabin Project would be a great example of how the Annapolis Valley is taking action towards a sustainable future.
Hardware Gallery’s first group exhibit this season, entitled “The Red Show” runs from June 29 to July 25. What does the word RED mean to you? Seventeen artists were invited to present art works that represented the word “RED” for them. An eclectic and stunning collection of art pieces was the result.
Hardware Gallery is run by the Kentville Art Gallery Society (KAGS). Established in 2017, KAGS is a nonprofit society with the mission to offer cultural experiences in downtown Kentville and provide exposure to contemporary and historical aesthetic practices. Find Hardware Gallery at www.hardwaregallery.ca or on Facebook.

Summer Reading & Learning Challenge 2018
Berwick, Nova Scotia: Get ready to read! The Annapolis Valley Regional Library’s Summer Reading & Learning Challenge starts June 23.
This summer, we will be tracking minutes read and we challenge students to read at least 20 minutes a day. When kids sign up online and log how many minutes they’ve read, they get to choose an avatar, leveling up as they read. Reading earns you prizes like stickers, buttons, and badges.
Kids from birth to age twelve can register online or in person at their local library. It only takes a few minutes to sign up. Teens & Adults can participate as well.
Each week we will offer challenges online to earn ballots for Fun Passes to Upper Clements Parks, t-shirts, pool passes, and more. We have partnered with Oaklawn Farm Zoo to offer two days this summer when kids up to age 18 can get in free with their library card. Libraries across the valley have great programs lined up, such as storytimes, music, art, science, and technology.
The Summer Reading & Learning Challenge ends August 18. Signup ends August 4. Go to the Annapolis Valley Regional Library website at www.valleylibrary.ca to find all the details and to register. Those who pre-register online between June 16 – June 22 will be entered to win a Family Pass to NS Museums
