The Valley Regional Library Board is trying to make public libraries an issue in the election campaign.

They're looking for supporters of public libraries to show their support by displaying bright yellow door hangers that say "Dear Candidate: Public libraries are important to me, my family and my community!"

Library Board Chair Shirley Pineo says in the last 8 years libraries have received less than a one per cent increase in core operating funding.

The hangers will be available shortly at all branches of the Regional Library.
